Hartwell is delighted to announce the launch of their new General Liability Program for Multi Family building owners. The program is called Angelus and will address the excluded risks of:
Assault and Battery
Shooting
Sexual Molestation
Dog Bite
These four risks are often excluded or loss limited on General Liability Policies which is why Hartwell has created Angelus, a program that covers exactly these four risks and only these four risks.
The solution for Insureds is a two tower approach:
Purchase a standard market GL Insurance Policy with all of the standard exclusions.
Purchase the 4 risks listed above in the Angelus program.
The two policies together give you total coverage.

How does Angelus work?
Angelus is a Multi Participant captive cell where any number of clients can join. There is no risk sharing and no premium pooling. Every Participant in Angelus gets their own Policy. Then Hartwell Reinsurance will automatically reinsure 100% of every participant in the Angelus program. If you are in the Angelus program you are automatically reinsured into Hartwell Reinsurance 100%.
What is the Policy Limit?
The program gives limits of $3,000,000 per occurrence and $4,000,000 in the annual aggregate.
Can I select just one or two of the above perils for my Policy?
Yes you can. We will always listen to broker requests.
I have a portfolio of subsidised housing can I insure that into Angelus?
No you cannot. Angelus is looking for best in class risks.
If you are claims free for 5 years for the above 4 perils, if you perform back ground checks on your tenants, if your tenants pay an high average or above average monthly rent for the area, if your property is located in a low crime risk area then Angelus is the program for your client.
Angelus is the program for high performing Multi Family Building Owners who need GL protection across the difficult to place risk categories. The reward for your clients’ excellent loss record and approach to risk management is access to this unique insurance program.
At Hartwell we look to offer solutions to client needs. If the Insurance market seeks to exclude risks we look for ways of managing that exposure and of underwriting it. Where others see problems we see opportunity.
